The Water’s Edge is a pop-up solo show at Woolwich works in association with the ‘Make Joy’ celebration of yarn.
The artworks on display reflect the ever-changing colours, textures, and movements of the sea, sand, and rockpools. Drawing inspiration from artist residencies on the Cornish and Scottish coastlines.
The fabric collages were made in Studio 5, Porthmeor Studios, St. Ives, Cornwall, a space once occupied by artists Patrick Heron and Ben Nicolson. They were made from cotton bedsheets, cut into pieces and fixed back together with handmade fabric tape, transforming them through a process of fragmentation and reparation.
My weaving was inspired by a sailing residency around the Scottish Isles with the Wilderness Art Collective and Sail Britain.
